Speak peace.

"Let me hear what God the LORD will speak, for he will speak peace to his people, to his faithful, to those who turn to him in their hearts. Surely his salvation is at hand for those who fear him, that his glory may dwell in our land."

(Psalm 85:8-9)

Inside information. Secret messages. Hot tips. We all want to know more than the rest of society does on a variety of topics. Some turn to psychics, horoscopes or mediums, but people of faith look to God for insight. We pray for direction for our futures and we'd love to hear "a word from the LORD."

Psalm 85 has the psalmist listening for a word from the LORD, in the midst of a difficult time. But the very next sentence was so telling: "for he will speak peace to his people, to his faithful, to those who turn to him in their hearts."

God will speak peace. Not insight into their future. Not sure secret tips for a long life. Not words of condemnation and correction. Nope. God will speak peace. We get so caught up in worrying about what's going to happen... or what we'll do... or how we'll get by. No. God will speak peace. We probably need more peace in our lives. The assurance that no matte what may come, God will be with us. It may not all work out the way we're envisioning it, but it will be okay. So don't worry. Don't stress. Don't panic. Be at peace. If we're given our hearts (and lives) to God, it will all work out.
