The "L-word"

"And may the LORD make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all, just as we abound in love for you."

(1 Thessalonians 3:12)

LOVE! It's a word we use a lot. It's a theme we use to drive industries. It's the subject of movies, books, songs, poems, and greeting cards. And yet, I wonder how hard we actually work at IMPROVING it?!?

The writer of 1 Thessalonians tells the community that he's praying for God's love to "increase and abound" for one another "and for all." That caused me to stop and think. How much do I simply take for granted the love I have with my family & friends? It's great to be able to experience that love... but even better to work at "increasing and abounding" in that love! What can I do every day to increase and abound in love for my family?

"...and for all" is the 2nd part of this. We're called to grow in our love for EVERYBODY. Not just our friends, neighbors, and fellow countryfolk... but everyone! That's a challenge. Especially in light of all of the "drama" in the world right now. But it's also God's vision for us. Lord, help me! Lord, help us!
