An Oreo-flavored Bible, maybe?!?
"Your words were found, and I ate them, and your words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart."
(Jeremiah 15:16)
I. Love. Cookies.
Like, SERIOUSLY love them. I'm a "dessert after lunch and dinner" kind of guy... and cookies are my "go-to." Whenever Golden Oreos go on sale, I'll buy 5-6 packs just to have them "in stock" at home (regular Oreos are fabulous... not to mention all the fancy flavored ones, too!). When it comes to homemade cookies, my top 5 (in order) are: sugar, oatmeal raisin, chocolate chip, peanut butter, and white chocolate macadamia nut. If I finish a meal and DON'T have any dessert, I legitimately yearn for something sweet (okay, so I'm aware that also might be the sign of a sugar addiction).
In the Old Testament book of Jeremiah, the prophet mentions "eating" the words of God, and that they became "to me a joy, and the delight of my heart." That's awesome. I love scripture journaling and reading the Bible devotionally (ie. looking for something God might be saying to me in what I read!). But I have to admit, I think I might long for cookies more than I long for reading God's word (and that's not a good thing). There are days I don't scripture journal... but rarely are the days I don't eat dessert after lunch and dinner. Very rarely.
SO... give me a hunger and passion for your Word, Oh God. (Oh yah, and thank you for cookies!)
