Look!
"Ever since the creation of the world his eternal power and divine nature, invisible though they are, have been understood and seen through the things he has made."
(Romans 1:20)
I've always been a "nature guy." I love the outdoors. Maybe it's because my father was a US National Park Service ranger. Maybe it's because I've lived in some beautiful places (like Hawaii!). Maybe it's because I have a passion for landscape photography. Or maybe it's simply because I have two eyes that can see the amazing grandeur of what's all around me. Whatever the case, I've always felt connected to the Divine when viewing mountains, oceans, rivers, valleys, trees, flower, sunrises and sunsets, birds, bugs, animals, clouds, stars, storms, waterfalls, etc.
In Paul's first chapter in his letter to the Church in Rome, he has a simple sentence that's so profound. "Ever since the creation of the world, (God's) eternal power and divine nature, invisible though they are, have been understood and seen through the things he has made." My limited understanding of Native American brothers and sisters (along with my many years in Hawaii with the Pacific Islander and Native Hawaiian communities)... tells me that they absolutely understand this truth.
We can experience God when we take the time to pay attention to God's creation. It doesn't have to be a church-only endeavor. Creation speaks as loud (if not louder) than the best sermons. God's glory, majesty, and tenderness can be seen all around us... no matter where we are.
