Say Something!
"O give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever. Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, those he redeemed from trouble..."
(Psalm 107:1-2)
I love movies. And good TV shows. Any that involve police, lawyers, and crime frequently have the dilemma of getting people to come forward as eye witnesses. There are often those who witness a crime (or accident/incident) but are reluctant to actually give their name and testimony. Sometimes it's due to fear of reprisal... but other times people just "don't want to get involved."
As I was reading Psalm 107 today, I thought about "eye witnesses." The psalmist invites people to give witness to God's love and goodness. "O give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his steadfast love endures forever" (v.1). Then the author invites the "redeemed of the LORD" to say so! Those who've experienced God's grace, mercy, love, forgiveness, and salvation - tell someone about it! If God has done anything in your life that warrants praise, say something!
Our human nature might be to not want to get involved. "I don't want people to think I'm a religious fanatic... or being pushy with my faith... or am like one of those street-corner evangelists." I get that. I often feel the same way. But it doesn't have to be like that. If God has blessed us (and God HAS blessed all of us!)... TELL SOMEONE! Bring it up with your kids at dinner tonight (where did you see signs of God today?). Post about God's mercy on social media. Tell a friend about how God brought you through a difficult time. It doesn't have to be a Hollywood production. Just speak from your heart as you speak from your life.
"Let the Redeemed of the LORD say so!"
