Led by the Young

"The wolf shall live with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the kid, the calf and the lion and the failing together, and a little child shall lead them."

(Isaiah 11:6)

Yesterday was the celebration of life service for Brylee Joy Cadamy. She was a 5-year old girl who died of cancer. For 322 days she lived and fought the good fight. She was truly an amazing girl who had passion, compassion, joy, and insight well beyond her years. Her journey inspired tens (of not hundreds) of thousands of people.

This was the verse I preached on yesterday. Brylee inspired me. She led people to the LORD in so many ways. This remarkable young woman embraced and welcomed whatever each new day brought. We have so much to learn from her. God was the source of her strength and hope. Plus, she was surrounded by a loving family and larger community.

Children can be our teachers more often than we give them credit. May our (my!) eyes and hearts be open wide to see their leadership. Thank you, God, for our young people! Keep working in their lives... and keep us open to learning from our young!
